We all know commercials (and TV overall) is fake....but after seeing the Samsung VR commercials all year, I had to find out how my people really respond. So I headed to Vegas and let my family try the Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus
If you're traveling along Route 66, then you needs to visit this place. The guy who built it turned out to be super cool and the place is just-plain-whimsical. Elmer's Bottle Ranch between Victorville and Barstow.
This week we went skating...some of us fell down more than others. But thank goodness for kind strangers and impromptu skate lessons! MUSIC: Monte Booker - Flight NEW MIX https://soundcloud.com/montebooker
1 week after buying my drone, I crashed it in flying in Joshua Tree. But at least we got some awesome shots and made a music video! Shoutout to my brother Patrick Jarrett Jr for the sporadic trip.
I had to demo my new favorite piece of filmmaking equipment. If you're thinking about getting a drone, then consider the Autel X Star Premium. Seriously dope!
What can I say? I'll never forget this moment for the rest of my life. Neither will she :)
Visited my friends at DIY up in San Francisco. We are working on this awesome online Lego course for kids. This trip reminded me that it is okay to be a kid... in fact it's necessary to create meaningful content for children! If you have kids, go visit DIY and JAM for some awesomely creative learning fun.
Visited my buddy Kieth Good News and the Good News Radio Show this week. Conversation ranged in topics from philosophy to comedy to politics --yikes! For the full radio episode visit: https://www.facebook.com/keith.leonard.94/videos/10211176834726475/ Music: https://soundcloud.com/tonton
Found an abandoned church on my way home from work the other day. Naturally, I explored :) MUSIC: https://soundcloud.com/siew-in-da-patio/limpio-w-dawl-patio-a3
Awesome, awesome art exhibit from the International Human Rights Film Festival in Albania. I befriended the curator and, just for you all, he gives a brief tour of the exhibit.
Here's another episode of my time spent in Albania. Today took a cable car to the top of Mount Daijti for lunch. It was beautiful! Afterward I had interviews with the press and news. And to wrap it all up, "Jihad in Hollywood" screened in the Academy theater.
You know what's interesting about seeing three different parts of the world within three days: perspective. We get so caught up with our perspectives and perceptions of people, lifestyle, and traditions. Going from Albania, to Rome, to New Orleans, I realized something: people are the same everywhere.
I'm honored to play with musicians I admire and respect dearly. This week, I joined my brother, the legendary Patrick Jarrett Jr, and we performed with Marc E Bassy down in New Orleans for Pandora.
On my way back to the US, I had a 21 hour layover in Rome! Luckily I'd just made friends who live there, and they were kind enough to show me around the city. Huge thanks to Francesca and Betta!
Hey everybody! I'm spending a week in Albania at the International Human Rights Film Festival. We are premiering "Jihad in Hollywood," a short documentary that I directed. Super excited, super anxious, but above all, just happy to share this story with others.
"The odds of hitting your target go up dramatically when you aim for it" That's the quote that inspired this vlog. Whatever you do in life, do it well. And take breaks to recharge, refresh, and readjust. Stay inspired friends!
The cool part about being a creative producer is that I get to work from home. And my home office/studio is my sanctuary. But sometimes, I'm a little burned out at the end of the day. So sometimes I don't look forward to choir rehearsal --just another time to think about notes and fry brain cells.
Most of these vlogs begin as a pointless montage clips. But after editing for about an hour, a theme emerged. I realized that it's important to always seek information and knowledge. Learn from those who are better than you. Ask people to get coffee and just chat!

(Left to RIght) Paisley Smith, Genie Deez, Sara Joe Wolansky, and Mischa Cantu accept the award for Best Doc at First Look Film Festival.

April 16th, 2015

The First Look Film committee chooses "Peace, Daal & Partition" as the winner in the category of Best Documentary. Representing the entire crew are Paisley Smith (Director), Genie Deez (Producer), Sara Joe Wolansky (Editor), and Mischa Cantu (Producer).

As a result of their win, the director and producers get to meet with Fox Searchlight to discuss current and potential future projects. The film is also to be screened in Hong Kong next week, and the team is beyond excited. Now, it's a downhill-rolling snowball for the "PDP" team. "Peace, Daal & Partition" will likely enjoy a fruitful festival circuit.
